WHY IT MATTERS
USAF Airman Christian Stephens has faced a swift response to his decision to post his message on Tok Tok platform (currently removed).
But it is a message that we need to hear - particularly in light of the administrations utterly inappropriate use of US military to "police" peaceful American cities. And Stephens recognised that there would likely be consequences for him when he followed his conscience. Whether our own morality is derived from command, doctrine, social pragmatism or 'sympathy' (David Hume), we salute moral fortitude like this.
And it is important that U.S. military also recognise when they themselves are being manipulated into worshipping a despot rather than protecting the freedoms and values of society as a whole.
