WHY IT MATTERS
A useful quality of Bill Burr is that he breaks the notion of those of us who make use of a moral compass are snowflakes. Burr certainly isn't. He merely speaks his mind on very important issues.
Burr has rightly highlighted the consequences of weak, biased, lazy and corrupt journalism.
One of the things we must sort out is the extent to which very wealthy people package up our own anger and use it against us for financial gain. Real journalism costs more to implement - and, in reality, blatant misinformation often easier to dramatise (and sell) than nuanced truth. However, the cost to society of deliberately confusing news with entertainment - and keeping people informed vs. Stoking emotions - no matter the consequences is extreme. It is a large part of the reason we are facing a constitutional crisis - because NO government has adequately combated this threat that has been weaponised against us by our Oligarchs.
Bill Burr is a highly intelligent man who uses language - and humour - that can cut through to the majority of the nation. And, irrespective of whether you enjoy Burr's comedy, his straight talking attack on those who are hurting society is a valuable addition to the resistance.
