WHY IT MATTERS
This was a direct attack on DEI by the trump administration - as usual, by executive order which, we remind you, is a power that was only intended for genuine national states of emergency.
Trumps narrative is that U.S. colleges are turning students into communists and terrorists. Wow! If only we had a president who could ride in and save us all from this the terror being unleashed on our nation by American Universities?!
A concerted effort by Trump to put a halt to all DEI related research and programs through:
Threats made to $9Bn federal funding and tax exempt status on non compliance.
A $2.2Bn funding freeze was subsequently implemented along with notification by Education Secretary McMahon that it would no longer be eligible for future grants.
Revocation of Harvard's ability to enrol International students (along with threats to the legal status of those students!).
A threat by DHS (Kristi Noem) to remove Harvard from the Federal database where colleges keep track of International students.
Accusing the University of anti-semitism.
Despite financial concerns, Harvard, stating an "unconstitutional abuse of power" have decided that their academic integrity will not be sacrificed to these bullying tactics and raised a lawsuit against the Trump administration and achieved a judges block on the above actions.
