WHY IT MATTERS
Trump farcically claimed that tariffs on Canada were a result of serious and ignored issues regarding Fentanyl coming into the U.S. Both claims were lies. He also criticised whomever created existing trade deal with Canada - it turns out it was Trump itself. What an International joke Mr Trump is, albeit not a funny one.
Carney likely won the election in part due to his strong stance against Trump's threats to Canadian sovereignty. And during his victory speech he calls Trump out directly to his Nation and ours, sadly acknowledging that the friendly relationship between the two Nations is now over.
And what a contrast to the approach of the current American administration as Carney states, "No matter where you live. No matter what language you speak, no matter how you voted, I will always do my best to represent everyone who calls Canada home".
