<<  For prioritising the Supreme Court function over partisan agenda and thereby working to uphold the separation of powers  >>
WHY IT MATTERS
Barrett is a highly contentious figure - not least because of her voting to overturn Roe vs. Wade which guaranteed a constitutional right to abortion.
It is, however, important to recognise heroic acts - even by those whom we may vehemently disagree on some issues.
The rule of law over partisanship (or any other form of personal preference - judges make rulings, not laws) is fundamental to the separation of powers that keep Americans safe. Some Trump appointed judges appear to have forgotten that. Amy, on the other hand, has not allowed political pressure to prevent her from dissenting on a whole raft of issues on which her fellow conservative justices have taken absurd stance from the point of view of legal interpretive decision making.
When you are a dictator, those who do their duty to their fellow men and women are a real thorn in your side. Why can't everybody just do as they're told?!
For Amy - it is clear that the law is given priority over the agenda of a minority of oligarchs and their enablers, even if one of those oligarchs appointed her. And, of course, in doing so, Amy has placed herself firmly in the firing line of her detractors, accused of being a DEI hire, by many childish detractors.
We salute Amy for putting the constitution via the rule and process of law above partisan agenda.
